Owned and operated by Mathias Espinosa and Jack Nelson, SCUBA IGUANA dive center offers the best in Galapagos diving tours, Galapagos cruises, and PADI diving certification courses.
Mathias has been a diving Instructor Trainer, Galapagos National Park Naturalist, and Galapagos Dive Guide and scuba instructor for over 13 years in addition to being an underwater photographer and cameraman. He was Operations Chief of the dive fleet GALAPAGOS AGRESSOR for 6 years. Mathias is the dive guide featured with Dr. Carole Baldwin in the IMAX format 3-D movie about the Galapagos Islands.
Jack is a seaman, diver, and Galapagos Islands guide for over 30 years.

- Our flexibility allows
us to organize daily Galapagos tours or extended Galapagos
diving programs throughout the Galapagos Islands on
short notice. We can provide:
- Shore-based daily
Galapagos dive tours, land tours of Santa Cruz,
and/or Galapagos day trips to other islands, with
or without hotel arrangements.
- Live aboard Galapagos
diving cruises including land visits to the Galapagos
National Park visitor sites.
- Live aboard Galapagos
cruises oriented toward the visitor sites but
including occasional diving.
- Non-diving live
aboard Galapagos cruises of the visitor sites.
- Galapagos cruise
options on economic, tourist, or first-class vessels.
Our dive guides are PADI Divemasters certified by the Galapagos National Park. They gain their experience through a 2 years internship in our facility and boats before guiding. They speak English and Spanish.

- We are experienced organizers of cruises for photographers and filmmakers, beginners or professionals, TV channels, scientific institutions, researchers, environmental work, etc.
- Our cylinders are filled with pure air in the gardens of Hotel Galapagos with no nearby pollution from vehicles.
- Visiting yachtsmen,
leave your dinghy safe at our private dock, or we
can pick you up at your boat.
- Our Galapagos dive
boats can rendezvous with a chartered Galapagos yacht
at a distant anchorage for a day of diving for part
of the group while the rest of the passengers are
on shore at a Galapagos visitor site.
- We rent scuba diving
gear and compressors

SPECIFIC
INFORMATION FOR DIVERS: |
Not
all the sites are for the same level of experience.
There are sites for beginners, intermediates, and
experts.
- We usually consider beginners divers at 5 to 25 dives logged; intermediates 25 to 70, experienced more than 70.
- We generally recommend
an intermediate level of diving skills and experience
for diving in the Galapagos Islands, although we do
dive with beginners.
- Minimum age to dive
12 years old.
- Our dive limit is 30
meters or 100 feet and no one can dive alone.
- Travel time may vary,
the dive sites could be changed or cancelled depending
on the weather or sea conditions.
- Day trip departures
are at 07:00.
- Individual divers are
subject to the day's program.
- Dives depend on the
sea conditions (Currents, wind, visibility, temperature,
surge and other variables). We can't promise that
you will be able to see all the animals mentioned
here.
- Currents are unpredictable
and may be negligible or up to 3 knots.
- Spear fishing is forbidden
by law.
- The Galapagos Hyperbaric
Chamber is in Puerto Ayora about 5 minutes from our
home base.
- Town electrical current: 110 V AC, 60~
- DAN diving insurance can be bought in Puerto Ayora for US$ 80
